Canon PIXMA PRO-1 Printer Series Review– The Canon PIXMA PRO-1 Network professional inkjet printer is a printer for professional users. Intended for DSLR camera users such as Canon EOS 60D, 7D, and 1D, PRO-1 is a welcome addition to the Canon line of printers. Accepts a 4.0 x 6.0 “- 13 x 19” memory card. The role of paper is not accepted.
The new printhead has 12,288 nozzles that improve the previous model 7 680, PRO 9500 Mk II. This head offers an improved color level and higher print speeds than before. The inks are positioned on the head side and delivered through a tubular system. The placement of the page allows ink cartridges to be larger and 36 ml more ink than the 14 ml containers of their predecessors, PRO 9500 and 9500 Mk.
PIXMA PRO-1 has 12 pigment-based inks/colors of the LUCIA family of 12 channels, including 5 black and white inks to expand the color scheme in dark areas: matt black, photographic black, dark gray, gray and light gray. In addition to these black and white colors, the printer offers cyan, cyan, magenta, magenta, yellow, red and a special Chroma Optimizer. The latter provides a transparent coating that improves the brightness of the paper and also expands the toner. The optimizer also improves the density of black, so that even the true, richer blacks. This system of inks offers uniform gradations, suppressed granularity, and tanning effect, improving color clarity and accuracy. Enjoy color prints in grayscale and color. The ink cartridges you need are not replaced, which saves time and ink since you do not need to replace the cartridges manually: a long process that often causes ink to leak or wait for the printer to automatically move between the cartridges.
Extremely quiet PRO-1 also has direct printing of CDs and DVDs. ICC profiles are available to display the contrast range and saturation of the same types of paper. These profiles provide color management workflows and ensure that prints resemble images on the camera screen. With ICC, you do not need to manually adjust the channels in Photoshop: the printer and its drivers work correctly. Canon ICC profiles are loaded with the included driver. Other producer profiles, such as Moab, ILFORD, and Hahnemuhle, are available by downloading the necessary drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
PIXMA PRO-1 includes a 10/100 Ethernet connection, a USB 2.0 port and a PictBridge port that allows you to print directly from a compatible camera.
